Redundancy

Redundancy & Settlement Agreements

If you've been offered a settlement agreement as part of a redundancy, we'll check it's fair, advise on whether to negotiate, and sign it off - free, your employer pays our fee.

What we look at

  • Is the redundancy genuine?
  • Was the selection process fair?
  • Does the offer beat statutory pay?
  • Notice pay, holiday, bonus, pension
  • Reference wording and restrictive covenants
  • Tax treatment - first £30,000 usually tax-free

Voluntary vs compulsory

Voluntary redundancy packages are negotiable and often considerably better than statutory pay. Compulsory redundancy offers should normally include enhanced terms in exchange for your signature. Either way - get it checked first.

Redundancy FAQs

Genuine redundancy means the role itself is no longer needed. If it's actually a performance issue dressed up as redundancy, you may have stronger grounds to negotiate.
